Going Native Garden Tour 2010

Curtis Horticulture Demonstration Garden (3 photos from 2009)

Garden #39, San Jose

Showcase Features: This lovely garden is a good example of the creative use of space in a tiny ornamental yard adorning the designer's office space. It beautifies the space while also serving as an example of the designer's work.

Other Garden Attractions: A wide perennial border outside the fence provides a hub of color and activity, showcasing sandhill sage, seaside daisy, golden aster, Idaho fescue, and penstemon. Two deer grass flank the gate, while California pipevine twines along the fence. Inside the fence, a lush red fescue meadow is bordered with yarrow, coyote mint, seaside daisy, golden aster, cliff buckwheat, and gumplant, transitioning to a dry creek populated with California gray rush, monkeyflowers, hummingbird sage, bush sunflower, Cedros Island verbena, and Channel Island tree poppy.

Gardening for Wildlife: This garden provides a wealth of habitat for a variety of bees and butterflies.
