Growing Natives Garden Tour 2014
Dent Avenue Native Habitat Garden (4 photos from 2011)
Garden #47, San Jose
Showcase Features: A tired lawn was replaced by a dynamic native garden installed by the homeowner. A permeable path winds through beds planted with coyote brush and rosy buckwheat. Ceanothus 'Dark Star' and Manzanita 'St. Helena' anchor the plantings. A young valley oak will eventually be the centerpiece of the front yard. Mahonia 'Golden Abundance' is planted along the shady wall.
Other Garden Attractions: The downspouts empty into the garden, which soaks up the rainwater.
