Growing Natives Garden Tour 2011
Jenvey Garden (4 photos)
Garden #20, Mountain View
Showcase Features: This collector's garden is teeming with wildlife, and includes unusual natives, fruit trees, vegetables, wildflowers, and herbs. Where many gardens succumb to a predictable aesthetic, this whimsical, wildish paradise showcases an astounding variety of plants.
Other Garden Attractions: A row of Catalina ironwood, as yet only 5 feet, a graceful elderberry bush, coffeeberry, serviceberry, coast silk tassle, ceanothus, California mock orange, and a beautiful, mature woolly blue curls are among the plants lovingly maintained by this experienced gardener. Instead of clearly-defined hardscaping, the back garden portrays a more natural, laid-back look with mulched-covered pathways.
Gardening for Wildlife: Many birds including jays, mourning doves, towhees, and finches, as well as pollinators and salamanders visit this garden.
