Growing Natives Garden Tour 2025
Wool's Wild Garden (12 photos)
Garden #31, Sunnyvale
This garden can be visited only on Sun, Apr 13, 2025.
Showcase Features: This garden was planted in fall 2007 with 75% CA native drought-tolerant plants. An oak is surrounded with a variety of buckwheat and wildflowers, including milkweed, to provide wildlife habitat (food, shelter, water). Dense planting was used to out-compete weeds.
Other Garden Attractions: This garden was designed with wildlife in mind. This low-maintenance front yard offers wildflowers and insect-attracting plants. Special attention was given to selecting plants for monarchs.
Gardening for Wildlife: Bird houses and bird baths placed throughout the garden attract a wide variety of wildlife. This includes lizards, Western bluebirds, squirrels, raccoons, skunks, hummingbirds, and monarchs.
Years of CA Native Gardening at this Location: 18
Garden Size: 1/4 acre
Designer: Arlie Middlebrook designed the front yard
